ubw basket welding machine

The UBW-24M is designed for semi-automatic welding of nursery baskets.

At the front of the machine is situated a two-arm carousel mounted on a central free-to-rotate spindle.

At the end of each arm is mounted a free-to-rotate spindle onto which is bolted a welding jig (former).

The (preformed) rings and stays are loaded onto the welding jig at the loading/unloading position.

The carousel is then rotated through 180°. Upon reaching the welding position, an indexing drive is

automatically engaged onto the lower end of the spindle beneath the welding jig.

In the main body of the machine are positioned three pairs of welding heads, for welding the stays to the rings.

In addition, there is a bending tool for bending over the ends of the stays after welding.

Above the centre of the machine is mounted a vertically acting welding head for welding the crossovers of the bent over stays to form the base of the basket.

After the welds for the first stay have been completed, the stay end is bent over.

The welding jig is then rotated automatically to the next welding position by a servo driven indexing drive.

The welding and bending cycle repeats and the jig indexes again, this is repeated until all of the stays have been welded and bent over.

Finally, the central welding head descends automatically to weld the base of the basket.

The welding jig indexing drive is disengaged automatically and the cycle is complete.

The operator unloads the completed basket and loads a new set of parts into the jig while the fully automatic welding cycle operates.
